Program and Volunteer Coordinator (part-time)

The Program and Volunteer Coordinator has two primary areas of responsibility: 1) volunteer recruitment, retention and training; and 2) Community Care program client program. There may be other duties supporting the volunteers and clients assigned.

Hours: 20 to 30 hours per week per work-load. Occasional evening and weekends may be required. Access to a reliable vehicle is necessary.

Responsibilities:

Volunteers

sunflower-icon Recruit, screen, train, and evaluate volunteers.

sunflower-icon Assist with coordination of all volunteer program activities.

sunflower-icon Maintain communication and recognition activities with volunteers.

sunflower-icon Maintain volunteer files, schedules and availability.

sunflower-icon Prepare monthly statistical reports.

Community Care Client Program

sunflower-icon Meet and assess clients and coordinate volunteer for in-home palliative care program.

sunflower-icon Maintain contact with clients for follow-up.

sunflower-icon Maintain comprehensive client records from volunteer reports.

sunflower-icon Provide post-program evaluations for client families.

sunflower-icon Additionally they will participate in the budget preparation and assess processes and recommend changes to facilitate growth and improvement.

Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a responsible professional with relevant post-secondary education, experience in coordination of volunteers and program evaluation, is organized and a self-starter, sensitive to different cultures and beliefs, and is compassionate and comfortable meeting with people at end stage of life.

sunflower-icon Post-secondary education in a relevant field.

sunflower-icon Minimum five years’ experience coordinating volunteers and programs; and in developing educational materials and program evaluation tools.

sunflower-icon Self-starter, organized, takes initiative.

sunflower-icon Ability to work with a wide range of individuals and committees.

sunflower-icon Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

sunflower-icon Use sound judgment, diplomacy, and confidentiality.

sunflower-icon Computer literate MS Office Professional.

sunflower-icon Fluent in English, spoken French an asset.

sunflower-icon Must pass screening requirements.
